JFK-METAR Privacy Policy
JFK-METAR is an independent iPhone app that shows current METAR, TAF, decoded weather, and widgets for John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK / KJFK). The app is designed to keep data collection minimal.
1. Information the App Uses
- App preferences you set, such as display options and widget configuration.
- Cached last-known weather data stored on your device for offline fallback.
- Public aviation weather data requested from third-party weather sources.
2. How the Information Is Used
- To display current JFK METAR, TAF, decoded weather values, and flight category.
- To power Home Screen or Lock Screen widgets linked to JFK weather data.
- To retain app settings and last-known data locally on your device.
3. Data Collection and Storage
- JFK-METAR does not require account creation.
- JFK-METAR does not provide social features or public user profiles.
- Core app preferences and cached weather data are intended to remain on your device.
- JFK-METAR is not designed to sell or rent personal information.
4. Network Requests
When the app refreshes weather, it sends standard network requests to public aviation weather data providers. Those providers may receive technical information such as IP address or request metadata as part of normal internet traffic.
5. Third-Party Data Sources
JFK-METAR may display publicly available aviation weather data from NOAA, the National Weather Service, Aviation Weather Center interfaces, or related public feeds. Those services operate under their own terms, policies, and availability.
6. Children's Privacy
JFK-METAR is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe personal information was submitted in connection with support, contact us and we will review the request.
7. Policy Changes
If this policy changes materially, this page will be updated and the effective date will be revised.
